Scott Yohe – President

Scott founded Build it Green after many years in the commercial and residential construction market, first with other companies and then forming his own company in 2003.  After incorporating several green building products and methods in the normal course of building as a General Contractor, he repeatedly stated to his clients that these “green” suggestions would make for a more marketable property, or be more economical to operate, or would be better for the environment or just made plain good sense to integrate into the project.   He also found more often than not, that these new products, methods and practices did not add significant costs to the project when properly specified and introduced early in the planning stages. When his construction company was asked to build two very affordable “LEED-certified Green Projects” he excitedly joined the team and at the same time embarked on providing this type of green construction to the average person looking to “Build or Buy Green”.

As CEO of Build it Green, Scott fills many roles such as Project Manager, Chief Estimator and Director of Operations. Build it Green is a full service construction company serving commercial and residential clients  in the Delaware Valley Marketplace.  Scott oversees every aspect of construction and works seamlessly with his  partners and various department heads in each phase of construction including but not limited to: budget pricing, architectural design, zoning and plan approval, permit processes, demolitions, inspections, build-outs, certifications and consultations.

While acting as an Owner’s Rep, he zealously guards the client’s bottom line by eliminating extra steps, unnecessary delays, red tape or discrepancies in the documentation – which may result in increased costs when there is a unnecessary compliance requests from a township or over-engineering from an architect.

Scott also has LEED training for new construction and major renovations and is certified by MHTI (Modular Housing Training Institute) to set and finish modular housing. Over the years, Scott has had experience as a project manager, estimator, purchaser, superintendent, sales & marketing and has hands-on field experience in almost every trade.

Donna Yohe – Administration and Operations

After over 13 years in the construction business for various companies, Donna founded CanViss Industries Inc, a certified WBE (Woman Business Enterprise) firm selling specialty building products and passive fire protection materials. Later she co-founded Level 5 Construction, a full service construction company serving commercial and residential clients primarily in the Philadelphia marketplace. When given the opportunity to be an integral part of Build it Green, she knew it would be huge challenge.  She likens the “Green Building” movement to the the growth of the Internet over the last ten to fifteen years.  The growth potential for the company was going to be huge, but the challenge of educating the consumers was even more so.  One of the many services Build it Green provides is an unlimited supply of information that is available to their clients.  The customer can not make a wise decision unless they understand all the pros and cons and the return-on-investment of certain products or methods.  Donna explains the technical information in a clear, concise and understandable way so that the problem of “green-washing” is lessened.  Green-washing is the trend in today’s marketplace to inundate consumers with unverifiable facts and figures and promises of greener, healthier and safer products by manufacturers.  Build it Green’s Clients are among the most-informed consumers in the area.

Donna actively markets the company and the many services but also enjoys helping clients with design and finish choices as well.  She formerly was a construction specialist with a multi-national tool company, sold print and radio advertising and served in the hospitality industry. With a degree in Business from Drexel University and courses in Construction Management from Temple University, Donna plans to use her extensive marketing, sales and construction management experience to help launch Build it Green as the premier Green Custom Builder in Philadelphia. Her main focus will be communicating how the Build it Green Team assembles green solutions that benefit its clients and a building’s end-users. Another goal is making green more mainstream and more available to the residents of The Delaware Valley.
